It probably doesn't seem much to you, but just pretend to party with me in my excitement!! (:

It's the little things that make me smile so big(:
Like this adorable picture frame!! I got it from Bunco last week, printed out a picture of Cody and I from Mexico and put it on our little table right next to our front door, and I seriously LOVE IT!! I love it right next to the temple that lights up, I love the picture, I love the words on the frame.. It's weird how much I'm obsessed with it, but I really am!! I love decorating my house and after seeing so many things that didn't look good, I LOVE when I find the thing that REALLY WORKS!!
1 year!
I'm a little late on posting this, so just pretend that you're reading this three days ago, on Friday the 13th of July.
One year and two days ago, I said goodbye to my boyfriend who was leaving to Hawaii for school, and I cried my eyes out. I told him I wouldn't date anyone else, and I'd prove myself to him that I was ready to get married to him. I was convinced that there was no one else out there for me, and although we didn't get along all the time, and we didn't treat each other well at all, I thought that's the best that life was going to get, so I said I'd marry him.
Two days after that, I went to play Ultimate Frisbee at Carterville Park. It was a blast! The guys were nice, the girls were nice, the game was fun.. It just couldn't have been much better. I was talking to everyone, and everyone was talking to me. It was that day that I decided to invite a couple of guys from the game to join my roommates and I that weekend for a fun night in the canyon. It was also the first time I had REALLY talked to Cody.. Nothing personal, or intense, but we talked. I had no idea my life was going to be turned upside down, two days after I committed myself to another guy.
One year ago today, I met my husband; Sweet, beautiful eyes, awesome at sports.. that's how I saw him last year. Now, we've been married for one week short of 6 months, and he is more than the man of my dreams, inspiring, beautiful, funny, goofy, and loving.
I'm so glad that I got introduced to Ultimate Frisbee last summer so that I could be in the right place when my Heavenly Father decided to show me how amazing life could be, and how happy I deserved to be.
Cody, I love you more than anything! Thank you for the support, the sacrifices you've made, the love you've given, and the happiness that you've given me. I can honestly say that this past year has been the happiest year I've ever had, and I can't wait for a million more with you!

Apparently my blog misses me...
(Thank goodness Kayla told me, or else I never would have known!)
Well, this post will be a huge jumble of thoughts that have been going through my head lately.
So Cody and I don't have insurance for health or dental, and my friend Melanie from Pizza Pie Cafe kinda got in contact with me and a bunch of people through Facebook because she's going to Dental Hygiene school and wanted to know if we needed our teeth cleaned! Of course we did, it's been years since we've gotten them checked. So we found out that it would be a 3 hour appt, and might have to go into a second or even third appt. BUT, it would only be $10 total per person. Such a good deal! It's a huge chunk of time each time we have to go in, but it was worth it for the money we paid. Plus we even got free X-Rays and a free Dental exam (where we found out some new that will definitely be making our wallets very very sad). We've gone in three times already, the last time being today! So happy! The only thing I have to go back in for is to get sealants on three of my teeth, which if I went to their little dental clinic in the back, they'd charge be $20 per tooth, but guess what? Since I'm having Melanie do it as a learning experience, it's free!! Man, I'm excited about all the sweet deals that come with it!
Now, a kind of embarrassing story. Not really though, because it's very hard for me to get embarrassed. ANYWAYS, our last cleaning appt was this morning at 8. And Melanie even texted me last night to remind me. And I had been thinking about it all week; except for last night when I was supposed to set my alarm. So when Cody was waking up for work this morning, he hit the snooze button a few times, and finally at 7:50am said, "Shaylin! We were supposed to have our cleanings done today at 8!" After I asked what time it was, I jumped out of bed and got ready so fast! We were out the door in no time, and thankfully weren't too late for our appointments. Those were over, 3 hours later, and I dropped Cody off at work and came home to do a few things.. Right when I was about to leave to go to the bank to get a few things situated, I looked at my outfit just to make sure everything was looking like it was supposed to. WELL IT WASN'T! I'm wearing a black t-shirt with a pink and black tank-top over it.. and I realized that my black under shirt was inside out! The people at the dental clinic must have thought I was mental! I do not remember that last time I've done that! So, note for the future, and for any of you that have done this.. Don't get ready in the dark, and look at your shirt before you leave the house.
As I was driving home from the bank today, I drove past a cute old man that was just sitting in his chair on his front porch. He and his wife are always up super early in the morning working on their garden, and they're also on their porch a lot, and it just got me really excited for being old (: Of course I'm going to enjoy every second of my life until that time, but I'm just excited to be able to sit on my front porch with my cute old man husband and just watch people and nature (:
FINALLY to wrap up my thoughts, I've been reading like a mad-man lately! And since I read fairly fast, at about 1 page per minute of a normal book, (Yes, I know it's nerdy that I know that.. but I got curious one day..) I'm almost through my second book in the last 7 days. Carly gave me The Maze Runner by James Dashner last Wednesday, and I didn't start reading it until the next day, and got hooked on the book! It is seriously so good! I've been in a rut since finishing The Hunger Games because they were so good! But I'm so glad Carly recommended them to me! So now, like I said, one week later and I'm 87 pages away from finishing the second book. I will finish reading it as soon as this post is over. And I'm not going to summarize the book, because I've come to realize that I'm HORRIBLE at summarizing, so I'll just leave you with this: The first two books, and I'm assuming the same goes for the third, are freaking amazing! So addicting, you won't even want to put it down to use the bathroom or eat.. Forget about it!
Haha, that was awful. Just go get the book. I just looked online, and it looks like they'll be making a movie out of it? Maybe? SCORE!!
Anyways, thanks for taking a tour of my mind today (: Have a good Thursday! I'm going to the pool with Cod as soon as he gets off work!!

Weekend fun!
So, I've got this friend. And this friend is a girl. And she's awesome. And is my best girl friend. AND I GET TO SPEND THE WEEKEND WITH HER AND HER CUTE BOYFRIEND AND MY HUSBAND!!! [Talk about the best thing ever!] (: It's Carly! Which of course you all know her, because.. you just do.
| Cody, myself, Carly and Jake down in St. George during Spring Break! |
Well, she's dating this kid who moved to Las Vegas to go to PT school, and it sucks doing long distance relationships. BUT, he's coming into town this weekend, and we planned a whole two-day camping/fun trip! Tomorrow night, after Cody gets off work, we'll drive down to Carly's cabin near Ephraim (Don't worry, Cody and I are being the chaperones.. haha, that's cool) and we're just going to party all night long! Games, movies, you name it! The next morning, we'll wake up and go 4-wheeling for a while, then come back down to Provo and hike Stewart Falls! It's such a gorgeous hike, and super easy! Nice perk (; Then we might float the Provo River, because I think Cody's the only one that has done it, and I hear it's an experience to try? And if we don't do that, we'll spend the rest of the day at the pool, practicing our back-flipping skills!!
4th of July
I didn't really take pictures, and I'm not sure why.. Kinda wish I did though. Oh well, next time I guess. It started out with going to the Provo parade! It was a really cool and fun thing to do with our friends (Carly, Courtney, Holly & Jordan) and it was fun to go to a Parade again since the last one I went to was in Jr. High when I was in the marching band! Okay, I know I just said it was a fun thing to do with our friends, but it was pretty dang boring haha. Except for the cool cops that were on Motorcycles and doing cool synchronized tricks.. Well, after we saw our fare share of the parade, we all went back to the pool at Carriage Cove (where I lived for 2 months before I moved in with my aunt right before Cod and I got married) because it was SOO freaking hot! We were all disgustingly sweaty. And of course we practiced our back flips! Which, I never told the story of. Well, I will.. {Last Saturday, Cody and I went to the pool with Carly, and she decided, after watching Cody back-flip, that she wanted to try. And my goodness, it was probably the most hilarious thing ever! I can't even describe how funny it was. Well, after about an hour of them saying that I should try, and me declining the offer, I ended up right next to Carly, looking like an idiot and trying it. It is so dang scary! I couldn't ever even get the courage to try back-flipping on a trampoline! Well, it's a long journey, but we're getting there (: And hopefully we'll perfect it this Saturday!!} Back to the original story, after the pool we went to the Freedom Festival and walked around at all the cute little shops, got free ice cream, and we all bought new sunglasses!
Then the whole group minus Courtney, went down to Delta for the 4th of July Demolition Derby. Those are always fun, watching cars smash into each other (: Then we stayed for the fireworks, which I'm glad we did because they were really good!!
Oh yeah, and a WHOLE freaking lot of this has been going on! This is of the Alpine canyon on fire. Pretty soon the entire state will be on fire. Baptism with fire much?

For my Dad
Happy late Father's Day Daddy!! I'm never on time, even when I was born, I was a couple weeks late.. So this is totally acceptable (:
Doing my 10 page research paper I learned a LOT about how much parental involvement effects children, not only through my research of articles and books, but even from personal experience. I don't know where I'd be without my Dad. He was my best friend growing up, I looked up to him in everything he did, and he was my hero. We never had a whole lot growing up, but I didn't even notice it. Maybe it was because I'm the youngest and was happy with having nothing but my life-size Barney, but I remember how much fun I had with my Dad, how he tried so hard to do my hair in the mornings, and yanno what? He did a DANG good job! He spent his work days working his butt off to provide the best for his kids, even if it was doing a job that he hated. I don't remember much from my childhood, and I'm not sure why, but the things I do remember I'll keep with me forever. The sacrifice and love my Dad gave for me and my siblings was unlike anything I've ever seen, and I will always appreciate it more than I'll ever be able to show. I've never seen anything but the best in my Dad, and I wish he could see himself like I do. He deserves so much more than he lets himself believe.
Daddy, I love you so much! I wish we lived in the same state so I could see more of you, but thank goodness for technology, right? Don't worry about me growing up and starting my own family.. I'll always be your little girl (:

Word Picture
How cool is this? It's my favorite picture of Cody and I made up with words from the story of our engagement! Here's the website if you feel like doing it too! I might get this printed and hang it up in our house somewhere(:
*UPDATE ON PRINTING*- I just printed this on a regular piece of copy paper, 8&1/2 x 11, and it was realllly pixelated. And I'm not too sure that getting it printed at somewhere fancy would really do much good either because downloading the picture from the website only gives one size option... unless there's some way to download a bigger one? I'll check into it!!
