I am emotional but blessed.

I got in the re-decorating mood last night and wanted to completely re-arrange our room! But if you've seen our room, you know that there isn't much I can re-arrange, because our bed takes up more than half of the room and is on the only wall that it can be on. So we're taking out my shoe shelf, because it just looks awful, meaning that we have to clear out some closet space for my shoes.

While doing that, I was ridding myself of old clothes, sweatshirts, pants and shoes that I never wear anymore. I was struggling getting rid of my sweatshirts because you can never have too many! And they're one of my favorite items of clothing! So Cody held up a sweatshirt, as he did every one before it and said "Good one?" and I hesitated because it was my nerdy Aylen Band sweatshirt that had Dewey on the back. How weird would that be if someone was going around wearing my last name on their back? I expressed my concern, and Cody just said "It won't be a big deal, I promise. No one's going to care about the name on their back, they will just be glad to have a sweatshirt at all."

Now I'm sure to anyone else, their reaction would be something like "Yeah, good point. It's a little small and I can get rid of it." But of course I'm not "anyone else". Because right after he said that, I started bawling. Here I am, going through my 20 coats, and 15 sweaters, trying to decide if they're cute enough to keep and "even though I haven't worn this in a year and a half, I will!", there are people out there that have nothing! Only a couple shirts, but no source of warmth, and I'm worried about someone having my last name on their clothing. It was a small but humbling experience and I'm very grateful for it.

We just had Thanksgiving, and I talk about how grateful I am to be able to live in a house that has heat, and to have a bed and blankets, and for all of my jackets and such, but I just need to think of others more. Yes, I have all of these wonderful things, but what can I go without so that others don't have to? Needless to say, I'm taking that sweatshirt along with 5 or 6 others to DI so that someone can have a sweatshirt this freezing cold winter.

I am so thankful for my ability to feel for others, and to cry whenever I feel the spirit or am touched, or feel bad for someone, etc. because it allows me to re-evaluate my life and helps me appreciate all the wonderful things I've been blessed with (even though sometimes I'll cry 10+ times in a day.. and it usually results in a headache ;). We all really are so blessed, and I'm thankful we just had Thanksgiving to remember those things, and for Christmas so we can give to others.

A few thoughts..

-This picture is awesome. And it describes how Dexter was acting for the entire 5 minute drive home, along with the next 10 minutes of us getting everything else ready for dinner and stuff. He wanted the pizza so dang bad! Also, I think I've converted from a Pizza Hut lover to Domino's! It was so yummy!

-Dexter has been such a brat lately. He will not go to sleep!! After a night of probably 2 hours of sleep and then the next night of him not getting to sleep until 3 (meaning he's barking the whole time), we decided to get him a bigger cage to sleep in at night. He still hated it. But when we first got him, we put music on right next to his kennel and it helped a little bit. Well after a while we stopped using the music and he was just fine. But last night we decided to add music, AND IT WORKED LIKE A CHARM!! We made a playlist of Joshua Radin, Joshua James and The Civil Wars and he was out within a few minutes! Thank goodness, hallelujah!

-So, I'm done with my Early Childhood degree in April, and there isn't a school in Utah that allows you to get your bachelors degree in EC, so I was just fine with the fact that I'd be done with school! But then my mind of course had to change itself. I've thought about doing Elementary, but that's a two year degree that you can't take any breaks from, and that's kind of intimidating. Plus, I don't even know if I want to teach Elementary.. I sometimes do, but then change my mind. But I was thinking about languages, and I can't get enough of Spanish, French and ASL, so I was thinking about maybe doing a language degree, but realized that you have to pick one language to focus on and have languages be a minor. So I looked into Spanish and French, and the classes seemed like they'd kill me. But when I looked into ASL, it shows that I'm already 76% done with the degree, whereas the other two I was less than half way through. And ASL classes looked really interesting (before I went into Early Childhood, I was thinking about being an interpreter) and fun! So, I haven't made up my mind or anything, but I might not be done with school after all, dang it. I'll keep you all updated though, since I know you care so much, hah.

-For my health class, one of our assignments was to teach a small lesson to a class, and I went down to Santaquin Elementary and taught in Tara Levi's second grade class today! It went really well! I taught them to have a balanced diet, especially with Thanksgiving coming up! The kids were so cute (:

-I just got an email from Southwest Airlines saying that there are some flights 40% off, only if you travel on a Tuesday or Wednesday.. so I was looking and I found round trip flights, for both Cody and I, that came to like $375 total! Heck yeah!! But that would mean we'd have to leave the 19th of December, and come home on Christmas day around 3.. if it was later, I'd totally buy them since we're planning on driving there.. :(

Anyways, thanks for reading all of my rambles! HAPPY FRIDAY!!

Etsy shop is now open!

Painting

I don't know if you read my Facebook yesterday, but it was a SERIOUS lazy day! I got my hair cut at 11:30 at my house, and didn't get out of my sweats for the rest of the day! It was snowing like crazy, so I got my puppy and a blanket and started watching one of my new favorite TV shows, Parenthood! After a while, Dexter jumped off the couch and was laying on the floor, and I wanted to paint. And here is that painting.

I'm really glad this painting turned out the way I wanted it to. The day before yesterday I wanted to paint something, and it was a COMPLETE disaster. Not even Cody sugar coated it.. "Yeah.. that just really didn't work out, did it?" And no, I'm not going to put a picture of it on here. So just imagine a big waste of paint on expensive canvas paper.

Fall Bucket List checkoff

I just realized that this check list was for 2011. Whatever. I still did some of it. But I didn't take pictures of all of the things we did.. so that sucks. But here's the things I have done so far!

Apple picking: CHECK! We actually have an apple tree in our back yard, along with an apricot tree (yes, it does look like popcorn's popping when the flowers bloom! I'll take a picture of it next year!) and a plum tree. They tasted pretty good too, except I'm always skeptical about home grown stuff, in case there are nasty bugs in there.. Especially after my friend Kayla grew her own veggies, brought them home, and a huge spider crawled out of one! Yuck!

Make leaf art: CHECK! (With fake leaves..)
I still love it! I need to start thinking of a wreath to make for christmas time!

Go on a hay ride: CHECK! But I don't have a picture of it. It was when we went to get pumpkins, they had us all load on a big trailer filled with hay to take us out to the pumpkin patch!

Have a photoshoot in a leaf pile: CHECK! Not with Cody and I, because by the time he gets home, it's too dark. But Dexter was a good substitute!

Bonfire: No.. I can't stand the smell of bonfire smoke. I still go to them sometimes, but I didn't make much of a priority to do it.

Make carmel apples: Half check! I ate some that Holly made for our Halloween party!! MMM!!!

Go to a pumpkin patch: CHECK!! It was Cody's first time at an actual pumpkin patch! His family always grew their own pumpkins, which is pretty dang cool.. But for me, it isn't Halloween until you go to a pumpkin patch and walk through the fields until you find the perfect pumpkin (:

Go on two dates: CHECK! We go on one a week, at least!
At Iggy's!

We went to the temple, then got Zupas to bring home!
Make fall cookies: CHECK! I made them for my primary class! They turned out great, and one of the girls was just flabbergasted that there was sour cream in them!
The colors were much more vibrant, but my camera didn't want to show the real colors!

Take a nature walk: CHECK!

Trick-or-treat: Nope.. Too old for that. We did have a few trick-or-treaters at our house though! They actually started coming when I was right in the middle of taking my health test. Don't worry, I still got a 95 on the test haha

Bake pies: I didn't bake any pies, because neither of us like pies.. I ate some at bunco last night though! It was a pumpkin cheesecake pie thingy. Not too bad!

Carve pumpkins: CHECK! Perry the Platypus from Phineas and Ferb, and the minion from Megamind! We had plans to paint some pumpkins too because we got 3 extra little ones, but ran out of time and then they got nasty moldy a couple days ago.

Drink fancy coffee drinks: Not yet! But I'm excited to go to Starbucks (Maybe we'll go tonight!) and get some hot chocolate since it started snowing today! Or maybe I'll get my Carmel Cream Frap with extra carmel.. mmm (:

Picnic: Not yet.. I'm making sloppy joes tonight, so maybe I'll make us eat them on the floor on a blanket or something! We'll see!

How are you doing on your fall check list?! I think I need to find a Christmas one now! I LOVE CHRISTMAS!

Happy Friday everyone!

An update of sorts

So, as we all know, I started making scarves for a profit, but I've been slow to get the whole "business" thing started because I've been quite busy with school. Well, I finished some more scarves and I'm getting my etsy shop set up finally!
And it's telling me that it's time for the grand opening! But I still need to wait for my friend Holly (the girl wearing this scarf) to be free so I can get some more pictures of her wearing the different color scarves, so I can put more than one scarf on my shop(: ! This is what my couch is looking like right now, which is a ton more organized than it was! Trust me!
I hope this actually brings in money, and that I didn't make all of these scarves for nothing. Keep your fingers crossed for me, okay?

As far as walking goes, I'M ROCKING IT! I'm walking at least 2 miles a day, which is on track for my goal of 60 miles between November 1 and December 1! There was one day last week that we walked over 5 miles, which was awesome! We went from our house all the way down to University Avenue (if you know where that is) and back! I go with Cody every night, and honestly, it's the best thing ever! If you want to connect with your husband/spouse/lover, go walk for a few miles a day! It's so nice to be able to be away from technology, homework, chores, etc and we can just have that whole hour or so to talk about whatever we want! I love the time we have to connect and talk!
